Man in clown mask sought in Chapel Hill break-in

The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Monday on Amesbury Drive, in the Chandler Green subdivision behind East Chapel Hill High School, police said.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police were searching for three men, including one who wore a clown mask, in connection with a Chapel Hill home invasion early Monday.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Amesbury Drive, in the Chandler Green subdivision behind East Chapel Hill High School, police said.

The men, who were armed with an Uzi-style machine gun, burst into the home and robbed it. No one was injured.

One of the robbers was wearing a Halloween mask that resembles a scary clown. He was described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He was also wearing tan clothes and black shoes.

Another robber was described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, 6-foot-1 and between 200 and 220 pounds. He had a muscular build and was wearing a black tank top, red shorts and red shoes.

The third robber was described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-10 with a large build. He was wearing a large hat with fake hair.
