RALEIGH, N.C. — A pedestrian hit Tuesday afternoon during a chain-reaction crash on Capital Boulevard has died, Raleigh police said Thursday.

Michael David Moore, 62, of Raleigh, had just gotten off a bus at the Old Buffaloe Road intersection and was crossing the street when he was hit.

Police said Ashley Tracy Barber, 21, was stopped on Capital Boulevard when her car was hit from behind by a tow truck driven by Jerry Allen Anderson Jr., 30, which pushed her car into Moore and then into a utility pole along the street.

Moore was thrown 119 feet by the force of the impact, according to a crash report by the Raleigh Police Department.

The report also notes that Anderson's tow truck was traveling at 55 mph before the crash, although the posted speed limit along that section of Capital Boulevard is 45 mph.

No charges have been filed.
