— A pedestrian hit Tuesday afternoon during a chain-reaction crash on Capital Boulevard has died, Raleigh police said Thursday.

Michael David Moore, 62, of Raleigh, had just gotten off a bus at the Old Buffaloe Road intersection and was crossing the street when he was hit.

Police said Ashley Tracy Barber, 21, was stopped on Capital Boulevard when her car was hit from behind by a tow truck driven by Jerry Allen Anderson Jr., 30, which pushed her car into Moore and then into a utility pole along the street.

Moore was thrown 119 feet by the force of the impact, according to a crash report by the Raleigh Police Department.

The report also notes that Anderson's tow truck was traveling at 55 mph before the crash, although the posted speed limit along that section of Capital Boulevard is 45 mph.

No charges have been filed.

MOIST, have you been driving 45mph and been able to stop instantly when someone slams on the breaks/stops immediately in front of you on Capital Blvd????? We would all have to be creeping to stop instantly - and yes, that's paying very close attention.

They're not giving out much info, but I'm guessing the man just walked out into the traffic to cross.

But yes, the tow truck was going over in the 45mph zone - that's about all the facts they've given so far.

If you cant stop when the car in front of you does its because you are either going too fast, tailgaiting, or both. Maybe your brakes are bad, but thats on the owner of the car to make sure its properly maintained.

Have yall thought that maybe, the guy crossed while the Capital Blvd traffic had a green light and the lady stopped abruptly to let him cross and the driver of the tow track didn't have a chance to slow down or stop. Not enough info here to blame the tow truck driver. Wait for all the details.

    "NO charges have been filed??"

Unbelievable. Did the tow truck driver even get a citation for rear-ending the car?
