Man held in July shooting of Raleigh teen

One of two brothers wanted for shooting a Raleigh teen in the back was in custody Saturday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One of two brothers wanted for shooting a Raleigh teen in the back was in custody Saturday.

Police arrested Juan Carlos Serralde, 18, of 2504 King Court, and charged him with attempted murder the in shooting of Emmanuel Wooden, 16, in the 3400 block of Mackinac Island Lane in July. Wooden was shot in the back and suffered injuries to his spinal cord and lungs, according to the arrest warrant.

Serralde and his brother, Hugo Serralde Fernandez, 22, had been on the run.

Serralde was being held at the Wake County Jail Saturday without bond. Authorities with Immigration and Customs Enforcement were investigating whether Serralde was in the United States legally.

Fernandez was arrested Sept. 19 in Pennsylvania. He was extradited to North Carolina and was being held at the Wake County Jail under a $1.9 million bond. ICE has also issued a detainer for him.
