Greensboro, N.C. — A man was found dead late Thursday night after being shot on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro.
Greensboro police said a visitor to the school notified campus police that she was approached by a man with a handgun. She and the man had a brief struggle, during which the gun was fired.
The woman was not shot, and the man fled the scene.
Campus police responded to the area and found a man, identified as 25-year-old Vic Kimeko D. James, suffering from a life-threatening injury in a vehicle near a school building. He was taken to Moses Cone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
James was not a student at North Carolina A&T.
Police said the James died from the gunshot wound, but it is unclear if the bullet was the one shot from the gun during the struggle between the visitor and the armed man.
The death marked the third fatal shooting in the city in 24 hours. Authorities did not know if the shootings were related.
