— Police found a man shot and lying in a street intersection Tuesday afternoon, they said.

Delquon Covington was bleeding when officers found him at about 5:15 p.m. at South Haywood Street and Hay Lane, said Jim Sughrue, spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department.

The Mayors son did not buy a 'shotgun' house around the corner. A quick search of wakegov.com real estate listings will show you that. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

He was shot 3 times. This is an area where police patrol and harrass those that live on the this street all day long. This is not exaggeration either. There is one officer in particular Officer Garcia of the Raleigh Gang Unit. He and his co workers ride through looking to see whether people wearing "RED" selling drugs. When you call police to this area for serious matters it takes roughly 30 minutes to get any help. I know this first hand. For fyi the mayors son bought a shot gun house around the corner from this incident.

I bet it was gang related, but Raleigh does not want anyone to know we have a "gang problem." We don't have a problem yet, but if people are not aware, they won't understand that it is increasing in population in this area. You can't help a problem before you admit to it!

High gas prices, illigals driving down wage base, higher energy bills, inflation around the corner...crime goes up when money gets scarce..

Is it me, or does crime seem to be on the rise around here?? It seems everyday now there is someone who's been assaulted, shot, robbed, killed, whatever... yikes

The location of this shooting is no surprise, unfortunately. And a man lying on the sidewalk in downtown Raleigh is a pretty typical scene. Sad.

Sounds like senseless violence and I am extremely surprised that it happened in the early evening hours at such a busy time. To be for sure a good samaritan would come forward if there was one to see what happened so that justice can be served. Praying for the victim. Blessings to those that has lost someone to senseless violence.
