RALEIGH, N.C. — A missing Southern Pines man who was found dead in a Moore County rock quarry last summer died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to an autopsy report released Tuesday by the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Gregory Lance Bullock, 34, was found floating in the quarry on Glendon Carthage Road in Robbins on June 26, nearly two weeks after he was last seen at a park in Southern Pines. His car was found at a recreation area on N.C. Highway 42 in Lee County on June 18.

The autopsy report said Bullock had been rolled up in a large area rug with a non-skid mat taped with black duct tape. His head was covered in a grocery bag, and his wrists and ankles were bound by black duct tape.

Bullock had been shot three times: once to the right chest with the bullet traveling through the heart and left lung, once to the lower back of the head and once to the right temple.

Ricky Joe Harvel, 32, of 175 Eagle Branch Road, Eagle Springs, was arrested and charged with murder on July 20, but authorities have not publicly stated a motive for the crime.
