Man found beaten on Wilson street

Two Wilson men have been charged with beating an unconscious man who was found lying on a sidewalk Thursday afternoon.

WILSON, N.C. — Two Wilson men have been charged with beating an unconscious man who police found lying on a sidewalk Thursday afternoon.

Police said they charged Corey Lee Farmer, 39, and Patrick Desmond Farmer, 43, with assaulting Steven Antwon Pearce, 29, and Thomas Darnell Mann, 23.

Pearce was in critical condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville late Thursday. Mann was treated for minor injuries.

Police said that the suspects first got into a fight with Mann in the parking lot Tropicana Foods, at 603 Pender St., but all three men left the scene.

Police said that about a half-hour later, Mann and Pearce came to Corey Farmer's house at 610 Blount St., where he and Patrick Farmer seriously assaulted Pearce. The suspects drove away, but police arrested them at a traffic stop.

Corey Farmer and Patrick Farmer, of 512 Manchester St., were each charged with simple assault and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. They were placed under separate $100,000 secured bonds.

Corey Farmer was previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in 1999, according to state Department of Correction records. He served 9½ years in prison. Records state that he was also convicted of dealing drugs three times in the 1990s.

Patrick Farmer was convicted of simple assault in 2003 and of selling drugs in the early 1990s, DOC records show.
