CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a three-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Johnston County.

Three people, including the driver who was charged, were injured in the crash on N.C. Highway 42. State troopers said Sunday that Jason Turlington, 28, is facing charges of DWI, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

He was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Authorities said a 17-year-old female also was taken to WakeMed with minor injuries, and another driver, 26-year-old Patricia McGee of Four Oaks, was treated at the scene.

Authorities said Turlington was speeding eastbound on N.C. Highway 42 when he ran through a red light and hit a car pulling off the Interstate 40 ramp about 10 p.m. Saturday. The crash blocked one westbound lane and all eastbound lanes.
