Man dies in Pilot Mountain fall

A Winston-Salem man died early Tuesday in a fall at Pilot Mountain State Park, authorities said.

PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man died early Tuesday in a fall at Pilot Mountain State Park, authorities said.

Lloyd Ewing Ramsey, 70, fell more than 50 feet on the Three Bears Gully trail, authorities said, noting that a park ranger notified Surry County 911 of the fall at 12:50 a.m.

The Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad, Surry County EMS, Pinnacle Fire Department and Pilot Knob Fire Department responded to recover Ramsey's body.

Park rangers are still investigating the incident, which they called an accident.
