— A man driving from Pittsboro to Chapel Hill died Thursday when his SUV ran off the road and into the Haw River, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Sean Wayne Jones, 36, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 15/501 when his SUV ran off the road, hit the guardrail at the leading edge of a bridge and flipped the vehicle into the water.

Jones was thrown from the vehicle.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office closed one lane of U.S. 501 near the Lower Haw River State Natural Area between Bynum and Durham Eubanks roads to retrieve the man's body.

Could have just as accurately said, between Bynum Road, and Bynum Road. Or more accurately, just say, 15-501 AT THE HAW RIVER.
