Man dies after Chapel Hill stabbing; 25-year-old suspect arrested

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Chapel Hill police arrested and charged a 25-year-old man charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened late Friday in the 200 block of East Franklin Street.
According to investigators, Charles Anthony Rhames stabbed a man in the chest at about 11:45 p.m. directly across from McCorkle Place, in one of the busiest areas in downtown Chapel Hill.
The man was taken to UNC Hospitals, where he later died. Authorities have not released the man's name but said he is not a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Rhames, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds, was arrested Saturday afternoon in Carrboro, police said.
Rhames has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing and remains in the Orange County Jail under no bond.
