— Chapel Hill police arrested and charged a 25-year-old man charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened late Friday in the 200 block of East Franklin Street.

According to investigators, Charles Anthony Rhames stabbed a man in the chest at about 11:45 p.m. directly across from McCorkle Place, in one of the busiest areas in downtown Chapel Hill.

The man was taken to UNC Hospitals, where he later died. Authorities have not released the man's name but said he is not a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Rhames, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds, was arrested Saturday afternoon in Carrboro, police said.

Rhames has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing and remains in the Orange County Jail under no bond.

    We will always remember
Your memory we will carry on
Until we meet again my friend, may the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.
    I love you.

Walter, you were such a blessing to have in my life. Words cannot express the loss we are all feeling! I love you man. I wrote this in your memory. #RIPWALTER #ALWAYSINMYHEART #NEVERFORGOTTEN

The world stood still, I couldn’t see and I couldn’t breathe
    Those words said to me
It wasn’t real, how could it be

No matter what you stayed loyal to everyone, you always care
This is a hard lesson for us all to bare

We all must say good bye and let your soul fly
I just wish we all could understand why

How could someone feel the need?
Who gave him the right to push God aside and take the lead?

Your smile will always shine in our hearts
Your absence will bring us closer even being far apart Your memory will last forever Our wounds will heal in time As we move on day by day Your name will become easier to say You were a blessing here to everyone Now Heaven is where you stay Our angel watching over us in every single way

We will always remember Your memory we will carry on Until we

Thank you but this was not black on black crime... walter was white, but with that being said the race of walt or charles is the least of any worries or concerns... this world has lost all compassion for HUMAN life. And you are right his parents did spawn this scum but they are parents hurting as well as walters parents are... of course we lost much more than charles' family, they can go cisit him in prison. They can even hug him ... we have lost walter forever. Prison time isnt going to bring him back.

Do not be concerned about forgiveness. Many super liberals will do that for you. And I do not feel sorry for Charles parents, this is what they spawned. I wonder where the outrage from the black leadership?ie: AG Holder, Obama, Sharpton, Jackson. Black on black does not seem to bring any rioting, any racist comments, any outrage. I guess if we do it to eachother thats COOL. Samantha Stone, your comments were just to the point. The report here on wral, has no name. But you do give his name, so Walter RIP

that is not their. It was a mention only that he was not a student. Nothing wrong with that type of comment, same as where he worked, or if he was unemployed.I would not read
in to something negative about it. Shame that these crimes do not take the time off in during Holy week

Forgive him?? Are you kidding me...walter didnt deserve this... walter was a great guy! A great friend. He was a son. A father. A brother. A uncle. A best friend. Forgive?? I hope this scum rots for this .... why??? Why did this happen??? I have known walt for many many years... he didnt deserve this. Period. Now this charles guy has hurt sooo many people... not just us who love walter so much but his family... and all for what? This isnt fair. This isnt right... im sorry for the family of charles but I feel no remorse in saying I want him to pay and I want him to pay with everything in him!!! Walter didnt deserve this ... his family doesnt deserve this. His friend dont deserve this...This was a senseless act thats caused so much pain to so many. I am finding it hard to say forgive. I cant I just cant.

I assumed they reported that he was not a UNC student so that parents of students living far away would not be in a panic worrying if it was their child.
