— The pursuit of a car through Moore County Sunday afternoon ended with authorities stopping the vehicle to find it full of stolen goods.

Police said an officer tried stopping the car around 2 p.m. after it pulled out from a local shopping center onto U.S. 15-501 in Aberdeen and almost caused a wreck.

The driver, however, kept going, leading Aberdeen police as well as Moore County sheriff's deputies and Pinehurst police on the chase.

Officers finally stopped the car in a neighborhood near N.C. Highway 2 in Pinehurst, where they found inside the car a number of items stolen from stores in Aberdeen.

The driver was identified as Brandon Vereen, 27, of Charlotte, although authorities did not say what charges he might face.

Vereen has 10 felony and misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest in Mecklenberg and Iredell counties. It wasn't immediately clear Sunday, however, what those charges are.

I'm surprised at how many criminals get caught because of bad driving bring them to the attention of the police.
