Man dead, woman and 8-year-old hurt in Halifax County shooting
A man died and a woman and child were hurt early Tuesday in a shooting in Hollister, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said.

Deputies responding to a home in thr 1400 block of Mills Road found Jimmy Harrison Jr. dead from what Tripp said appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Nakisha Reid, 34, and an 8-year-old boy were hurt in the incident. Reid is now in stable condition, authorities said.
The 8-year-old was shot in the hand and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Tripp said. Two other children in the home at the time of the shooting were not hurt.
Tripp said an investigation of the shooting is ongoing.
