Man charged with trying to strangle ex-wife

— A Sanford man has been charged with breaking into his ex-wife's home and trying to strangle her early Saturday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Alfredo David Flores, 29, broke into the home of Miriam Liseht Viera around 4 a.m. and then assaulted her.

Flores, of Lot 5 Dreamland MHP, is charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female and damage to property.

He was being held in the Lee County Jail Monday under a $200,000 secured bond.

    Hopefully, no one will come and bond him out. If they do the police should watch her very carefully because he will try again and maybe this time she will not be so lucky.

    I am glad to see this man has been arrested and put in jail. May he remain there until his court date and hopefully the courts will send him to prison for a while. Ladies choose your men carefully, for some or very dangerous.

    I hope they don't let him out or he might actually accomplish his mission. I think he should have to move to another state and not be allowed anywhere near her or else. Things of this nature are so scary!

    It's a $200,000 'secured' bond- I seriously doubt that a man that lives in a mobile home park can come up with that kind of cash.
