Man charged with trying to run over Rocky Mount officer

Posted March 2, 2011

— Rocky Mount police arrested a man who they say tried to run over an officer in the parking lot of a nightclub early Wednesday.

Police said that Lorenza Moody Jr., 26, yelled that he was going to run over an officer directing traffic as Club Rain, 349 Falls Road, closed around 2 a.m.

Moody steered toward the officer and accelerated toward him, but he managed to jump out of the way, police said.

Police stopped Moody's vehicle and arrested him on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill on a government official. He was placed in the Nash County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

There is a serious lack of respect towards the public officers who are here to AID us, KEEP Us SAFE and serve our counties. It is a shame, he thought it was CUTE, and he should be treated just as serious as the BOND states. If no one will sign for it and he sits among the masses, he may gain a little more respect for his elders- and some that aren't!!! $20,000-$30,000 a year
is such a small career income for dealing with fools.
