Raleigh, N.C. — A man barricaded himself in a Rock Quarry Road house early Thursday after threatening his wife and sons with a gun, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Police were called out to a domestic situation at 3316 Rock Quarry Road around 1:45 a.m. Sughrue said that Robert Eugene Gay, 47, was in the house when officers arrived, and they were told he had a handgun.
Gay's 37-year-old wife, Kelli Michelle, and their 9- and 11-year-old sons got out of the house safely, Sughrue said.
Gay refused to come out of the house, and police set up a command post. Officers got warrants against him, and he eventually surrendered peacefully shortly after 7 a.m.
Gay was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a female, assault by pointing a firearm and communicating threats.
Rock Quarry Road was closed during the incident.
