Man charged with stealing drugs from apothecary

Burlington police officers arrested a man they say was caught stealing prescription drugs from an apothecary Saturday night.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police officers arrested a man they say was caught stealing prescription drugs from an apothecary Saturday night.

Cpl. Jason Comer responded to a burglar alarm and found a break-in in progress at the Medical Village Apothecary, 1610 Vaughn Road, around 11:15 p.m., police said.

Comer found a large quantity of prescription drugs in a vehicle in the rear of the parking lot, investigators said. He arrested the vehicle's occupant, Ray Lee Hunt, 58, of 622 Georgia Ave.

Hunt was charged with felonious breaking-and-entering, larceny after breaking-and-entering and possession of burglary tools. He was being held in the Alamance County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
