Man charged with shooting at car on I-95, trying to rob driver

A man who shot at a car on Interstate 95 early Sunday was beaten up when he tried to rob the car's occupants, authorities said Monday.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A man who shot at a car on Interstate 95 early Sunday was beaten up when he tried to rob the car's occupants, authorities said Monday.

The shooting happened at about 6 a.m., and when the car pulled off the road, the gunman tried to rob the driver and passenger, authorities said. The driver fought back and overpowered the gunman.

Jimmy Locklear, 23, no address available, was charged with attempted murder and two counts of attempted armed robbery. He was being held in the Robeson County jail under a $200,000 bond.
