FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives said that a 33-year-old man used a game of "Truth and Dare" to lure a 5-year-old Cumberland County boy into a sexual encounter.

Karson Benjamin Warner, of Shallotte, was charged Thursday with taking indecent liberties with a child in connection with the alleged encounter in 2009.

Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said that Warner dared the child to take off his clothes and run outside naked, then inappropriately touched the boy.

The boy's mother contacted authorities after he told her about the alleged abuse, investigators said.

Warner was placed in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Thursday afternoon.
