— A local man was to appear in court Monday to face accusations that he paid boys with money and drugs for sex, authorities said Monday.

Barney Keester Pauze, 62, of 136 Meadowsweet Drive, was charged with two counts of participating in the prostitution of a minor and one count each of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, attempting statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a minor. Those charges stem from separate incidents involving a 17-year-old boy and an agent posing as a 13-year-old boy.

He was being held Monday morning in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond while awaiting his first court appearance.

Also on Monday, investigators began examining evidence seized from Pauze's home, including hundreds of pornographic tapes and dozens of homemade sexually explicit videos and photographs. They said more charges might be filed in the case.

Pauze was arrested Friday evening after authorities said he agreed to meet someone he thought was a 13-year-old boy. Investigators said he agreed through an agent to pay a 13-year-old for participating in a variety of sexual acts.

In December 1987, Pauze was convicted on multiple charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor in Robeson County, according to state Department of Correction records. One offense occurred in February 1986. He served four years in prison.

The BIG difference here, TheAdmiral, is that this involves one adult and one child, not two consenting adults. That is a HUGE difference that anyone, liberal or conservative, should be able to easily distinguish.

Let's not confuse two very distinct and separate issues.

--- How does an agent manage to *look* like a 13-yr old? Or do we have agents that *are* 13 yrs old? ---

Haven't you ever seen Chris Hanson's To Catch A Predator series or Cops? They take a young female officer, tie her hair up and put it in a baseball cap and she looks just like a teenage boy.

Alot of times they don't exchange pictures, just talk in a chatroom or whatever. In that case you just need to SOUNDS 13 on the phone, which is easy enough.

... Again - another person who's sexual preference and/or orientation is children.

I wonder when the liberals are going to stop this nonsense and start to see that their idiotic method of inclusiveness is allowing their own children to be molested by these pervs.

Ok, smitty, whose child you going to offer up in place of the way the police do it now? Let them get 'em however they can. As long as they're off the streets it's ok with me.

I still really don't understand how soliciting an imaginary person is illegal. Don't get me wrong, this guy probably is a menace to society, but the way police go about trolling for pervs seems a little questionable

And they are supposed to use a real child? The pervert needs to be placed under the jail.

That address is in an old, filthy trailer park. If he had "hundreds" of tapes and things in one of those old trailers with him then there couldn't have been much room for anything else.

Throw his "Keester" in jail! Trolling for kids is just sick and cannot be tolerated.
