— Authorities on Monday charged a Wake County man with raping and blackmailing an 18-year-old he met on the Facebook social networking site.

Ronald Stacey Rhodes, 22, of 1300 Farm Road, Lot 3, was charged with kidnapping, second-degree forcible rape and extortion. He was being held on $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in court at 9 a.m. on April 12.

Wake County deputies searched his home on Saturday and seized a desktop computer, a black book containing women's names and phone numbers and a document from the Wake County Sheriff's Office noting that Rhodes is a registered sex offender, according to a search warrant.

The woman told investigators that she met Rhodes, who went by the name Brionne Rhodes, on Facebook in early February and then met him in person several times. On Feb. 13, she went to his home for dinner, and he threatened to "erase" her if she didn't have sex with him, according to an affidavit for the search warrant.

Rhodes took pictures of the woman and videotaped them having sex, according to the affidavit. He then promised to delete the pictures and video if the woman had sex with him again and then threatened to distribute the photos unless she paid him money, the affidavit states.

"Always check out if your date is a registered felon/sex offender"...
How if you don't know the pervert's real name?

This fellow is the poster child for why the death penalty should be imposed for rape!

Wow! he's good ! too good to be FREE now that he's already a convicted sex predater and he's doing this to young lady's.

At the age of 16 this man was charged with 1st and 2nd degree kidnapping against a minor who was of the age of 12 and was required to register as a sex offender for 10 years and given two years probation. I really think the registry needs to include the names of the judge who gives the perp probation. I want to know who NOT to vote for.

There's a guy near our home who was convicted 5 times of molesting 5 different children under the ages of 11. It started when he was in his 40's, he's now in his late 50's. The judge made him serve 6 months of his sentence and now he's on probation. I would like this judge's name as well.

Just FYI - before judging the situation, everyone should read the N&O article because it has way more info. This young woman actually went back to her "rapists" apartment on multiple occasions and then had sex with him again to get him to delete pics of her. I can't imagine any woman voluntarily returning to the scene of her forcible rape, let alone having sex with her rapist again for any reason. She didn't report this as rape/kidnapping until she exhausted efforts to get the pics back via other means.

Also, his sex offense was when he was 16 and the charge was kidnapping a 12 year old girl. Sounds like he has been using this type of power play before.

Also, despite the menacing picture, this guy is a 5'4" tall 144 lbs shrimp. Apparently he thinks that bullying little girls and young ladies around makes him a big man.

I propose executing all those convicted of rape and child molestation and allowing the victims or the parents of the victims to execute them in the manner they see fit if they so choose.

Yes I agree she was a victim of rape. He should never see the light of day because he WILL do it again. I just think people should be more careful with meeting people online. But hey now you cant even trust people you do know!

    jasw2032 and mochabrown :

Don't you mean what was HE thinking?! And what are you thinking? He forcibly raped her for crying out loud! She met him on a social networking site, the same one my sister met her husband on and my aunt met her husband on. Then she MET HIM SEVERAL TIMES IN PERSON. It was only after this that she went to his home for DINNER. She was a young woman looking for a relationship, not some chick at a club looking to hook-up who drank a 12 pack of beer and went home with a stranger.

She wasn't trying to "hook-up" as you said. She met him online, next met him several times in person, then went to his home for dinner. Aside from checking his criminal record, she was safer than most women these days. She was a victim or rape, plain and simple.
