Man charged with ransacking country club store

Rocky Mount police arrested one man and are trying to identify a second who they say ransacked a golf club store at Northgreen Country Club Friday afternoon.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested one man and are trying to identify a second who they say ransacked a golf club store at Northgreen Country Club Friday afternoon.

An employee discovered the break-in at 930 Northgreen Lane around 1:15 p.m. and called police.

Police said that two men broke the front glass door, went through the store and stole a safe. They also damaged the back door.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and identified one of the men as Sean Kevin Birthwright, 38. Officers found the safe in his possession.

They are still working to identify the second man.

Birthwright was charged with breaking-and-entering, larceny after breaking-and-entering, and safe-cracking.
