TARBORO, N.C. — A Whitakers man has been arrested after authorities found an estimated $100,000 in stolen merchandise at his home.

Bobby Joe Wadsworth, 48, of 1218 N.C. Highway 33, is charged with felony possession of stolen goods and possession of a firearm by a felon, authorities said.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip that a worker for Interstate Brands Corp. was stealing automotive supplies from the company, authorities said. Interstate Brands conducted an inventory and found an extensive amount of property missing, authorities said.

Authorities searched the home of Wadsworth, a mechanic at Interstate Brands, last Thursday and recovered acetylene and oxygen tanks, cases of oil filters, heavy-duty truck jacks, new tires, truck rims and an assortment of tools, authorities said.
