Man Charged With Murder in Raleigh Nightclub Stabbing

A man was stabbed early Friday morning inside a Raleigh nightclub, according to police.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was charged with murder Friday morning after a stabbing inside a Raleigh nightclub that left one man dead, police said.

The stabbing occurred at about 2:15 a.m. at West Side Stories, 200 S. West St., following an argument, police said.

Daniel Dietmar Smith, 21, was taken to WakeMed, where he died.

Wallace Reynold Bass, who turned 24 Thursday, was detained at the scene and was later charged with murder. He was being held in the Wake County Jail.

The slaying was Raleigh's 21st homicide in 2007. Nineteen homicides were reported in the city in 2006.
