Man charged with DWI after car struck, killed man on lawnmower

Four Oaks, N.C. — A man riding a lawnmower was struck and killed by a drunk driver Wednesday evening.
Authorities said a man was riding a lawnmower without headlights on the wrong side of the street near the corner of Parkertown Road and Adam Road near Four Oaks just before 6 p.m.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction of the lawnmower struck it, killing the man instantly.
The driver of the car was uninjured and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was being held in the Johnston County Jail Wednesday night.
