Man charged with attempted murder of Shelby police officer
A man is facing an attempted murder charge after the Saturday shooting of a Shelby police officer.

Shelby police were searching Sunday for 23-year-old Irving Lucien Fenner Jr. of nearby Grover after Officer Tim Brackeen was shot early Saturday.
The Shelby Police Department said on Facebook that Brackeen was looking for a subject around 12:21 a.m. who was wanted on outstanding warrants. Shortly after arriving on scene, other officers in the area heard shots fired.
The officers went to Brackeen's location and found he has been shot.
Brackeen, 38, was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center and then to Carolinas Medical Center. Police said he is in critical but stable condition.
Brackeen has been with the Shelby Police Department since July 2004 and is currently assigned as a K-9 officer. He is married and has one daughter.
