WILSON, N.C. — Wilson Police Department charged a man with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing another man in the abdomen Saturday.
Wilson police conducted surveillance on a residence where the suspect was seen, and Wilson County sheriff's deputies nabbed Johnathan Wayne Darden at a traffic stop when he left the home.

Darden allegedly stabbed David Miller in the abdomen at Cherry Apartments, 333 E. Nash St., police said. Miller also had lacerations on his face and injuries to his head.

He was taken to Wilson Medical Center and then airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, officials said. Miller was listed in fair condiction Sunday.

Darden is being held without bond at the Wilson County Jail.

He is charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
