Man charged in two Fayetteville bank robberies

A Spring Lake man was arrested Thursday night in connection with two recent bank robberies in Fayetteville, police said Friday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Spring Lake man was arrested Thursday night in connection with two recent bank robberies in Fayetteville, police said Friday.

William Alexander Douglas, 38, of 1401 Kenneth Drive, was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to sell or deliver marijuana. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail under a $115,000 secured bond.

Douglas is charged with robbing First South Bank, at 705 Executive Place, on Dec. 4 and a First Citizens Bank branch at 3604 Ramsey St. on Dec. 12. Police said officers found drugs and a handgun at his house when he was arrested.
