Man charged in string of Rocky Mount robberies

A Rocky Mount man was arrested Wednesday in connection with three recent armed robberies in the town, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man was arrested Wednesday in connection with three recent armed robberies in the town, police said.

William Earl Hinton, 45, is charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of being a habitual felon. He was being held in the Nash County Jail under a $300,000 bond.

A man robbed the First South Bank branch at 300 Sunset Ave. last Friday. On Sunday, a Kangaroo convenience store at 235 N. Fairview Road was robbed, and the State Employees Credit Union branch at 805 N. Fairview Road was held up on Monday. Police said the same man committed all three robberies.
