Man charged in store owner's shooting

— A Goldsboro man was charged Monday with shooting a convenience store clerk last week, police said.

Rashard Vondarius Oliver, 18, of 1218 Franklin St., was charged with attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Ribhi Mohammed Kandeel, the owner of Brookside Mart, 2000 S. Slocumb St., was robbed and shot while working in the store on Aug. 18, police said. He is recovering from his gunshot wound.

The case remains under investigation, and more arrests are expected, police said.

    Sometimes, no matter how hard a parent tried they just can't help what their children do. I'm not making excuses for them because this individual is old enough to know better.
    He should tried in court quickly and then punished severely....and quickly! You use a gun, automatic ten years minimum, not a day less. Put them in tents etc like the Sheriff in Arizona is doing.
    I say more longer and more severe punishment, but do it quickly!

    Story should read, "Slacker shoots hard worker." Now, let's get the courts to help the victim heal by dispensing some good justice down on the head of this poor excuse for chromosomes called Rashard Vondarius Oliver. And to the parents of Rashard...good job raising a contributing member of society. Not.
