ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police on Tuesday charged a man in the Sunday death of a bicyclist in Rocky Mount.

Brian Hart Holmes, 22, no address available, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jeffrey Scott Price.

Price, 48, was found off the side of the road in the 100 block of Cedar Street on Sunday evening, police said. He had been shot twice, and he died at Nash General Hospital.

Investigators said Price was riding his bike when someone fired several shots at him in an apparent drive-by shooting.

Police didn't release other information about the case, such as a possible motive or what evidence led to Holmes' arrest.

Holmes was being held Tuesday in the Nash County Jail without bond. The case remains under investigation.
