Man charged in Fayetteville sex assault

— A Fayetteville man faces second-degree rape and sexual battery charges in connection with an Oct. 14 sexual assault, police said Wednesday.

Mica Champagne, 27, of Hewitt Drive, was arrested Oct. 31 and released on a $20,000 bond.

Police say Champagne met the victim at a party and assaulted her while she was physically unable to give consent.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

    Not saying what he did was right but if her excuse is that she was physically unable to give consent then maybe he was physically unable to realize she didn't give consent.
