An 18-year-old Fayetteville man is charged with murder in the death of a 19-year-old man who was shot during a drug deal gone wrong, police said Wednesday.

Joshua Maultsby died Sunday afternoon after a friend took him to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Fayetteville police said Maultsby and an acquaintance had arranged to meet for a drug deal, but it appeared Maultsby was robbed and shot behind Belk's at Tallywood Shopping around 12:30 p.m.

Investigators on Tuesday arrested Jamal Shaquille Jarvis at his home in the 5100 block of Buckskin Drive. He is charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Jarvis was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center. Bond information was unavailable.

I personally don't care if a someone is underage, if they commit murder, they cross the line into manhood and should be delt with as an adult.

To me, anyone that murders another is a killer regardless of what age the killer is.

Was that a legally obtained weapon used?

I'm sure he had a bad childhood.

Funny how some times, the news will call them Teens, other time men. The guy is 18, certainly not a man. But I guess he will be by the time he's out of prison.

I live behind Tallywood and hearing about this, I thought it was in the neighborhood. Glad to know these individuals don't live here and it was behind Belk's and not at a house in the neighborhood.
