Man charged in Durham shooting death

A 40-year-old Durham man was charged with murder in the shooting death of an acquaintance outside a convenience store on Holloway Street Thursday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 40-year-old Durham man was charged with murder in the shooting death of an acquaintance outside a convenience store on Holloway Street Thursday night.

Officers responding to a call found Manuel Erazo Oseguera, 32, of Durham, lying in the parking lot at 2502 Holloway St. shortly before 9 p.m. Police said Oseguera had been shot once in the chest, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Romualdo Erazo Ruiz, 40, of Farm House Lane, was charged in his death.

Investigators said that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that Ruiz and Oseguera knew each other.
