LILLINGTON, N.C. — Harnett County authorities said Wednesday that they have charged a man in the shooting deaths of his sister-in-law and nephew last week.

John David Walter Haughton, 51, of 861 Johnson Road in Coats, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was being held without bond in the Harnett County jail.

A family member found the bodies of Roxanne M. Haughton, 45, and Richard Michael Miller, 24, inside the Johnson Road home last Friday morning, authorities said.

John Haughton was found unconscious and injured in the house. He had been hospitalized since then, and the charges were filed against him upon his release.

Authorities haven't disclosed a possible motive for the shootings.
