RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities charged a Raleigh man with the death of a 2-year-old who died after being found unresponsive at a home in the 5200 block of Somerset Mill Lane on May 19.

William Lee Bell, 22, was charged with murder of Chase Jordan Eaddy and turned himself into authorities Thursday night at the Wake County Detention Center.

Officials said Bell lived at the home on Somerset Mill Lane where the crime occurred.

Authorities were called to the home on May 19 in reference to an unresponsive child.

“He was playing, and then he just fell out. He’s just lying there, not moving,” a woman told a 911 dispatcher.

According to search warrants, Raleigh police and EMS found Eaddy on the living room floor unresponsive when they arrived.

EMS began life-saving measures after noticing the child’s stomach was bloated. Eaddy was taken to WakeMed and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said they reported smelling marijuana in the home and found a plastic baggy that was torn and indicative of packaging marijuana.

Eaddy's death was determined a homicide on May 21.

Bell was being held without bond. He is due back in court next month.
