Man charged in connection with Fayetteville homicide

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Oct. 16.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Oct. 16.

Authorities said Keyelle Luavee Hassell, of the 5400 block of Wichita Drive, shot and killed 42-year-old Karlos Bembury at a home on Blayne Drive.

Hassell was charged with one count of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy and possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine and marijuana.

He is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
