Fayetteville, N.C. — A Milwaukee man has been charged in connection with two 21-year-old rape cases in Fayetteville.
Authorities said Louis Lane III, 59, of the 3100 block of West Mt. Vernon Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, second-decree rape and second-degree sexual offense.
The charges stem from incidents that occurred on April 28, 1995 and Sept. 19, 1995.
Warrants were issued for Lane in 1995, but he had fled the state and extradition was not approved at the time, police said.
Fayetteville police consulted with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office after recent review of the cases and extradition was approved.
Lane was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $800,000 secured bond.
