CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police have arrested a 19-year-old man they say followed a passenger off a bus and then robbed him in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Steven Lamar Brown faces one charge of felony armed robbery in the Nov. 4 incident. He surrendered to police Thursday.

Lt. Kevin Gunter said that investigators identified Brown as a suspect based on surveillance photos from a Chapel Hill city bus.

Police said that Brown and the 21-year-old victim both got on the bus in downtown, and Brown followed the man when he got off at Foxcroft Apartments at East Franklin Street and Dobbins Drive. Brown held the man at gunpoint and stole his wallet and an iPod, police said.

Gunter said that the victim, whose name wasn't released, was not injured.
