CARY, N.C. — A Cary man faces multiple felony charges for causing and fleeing a single-car wreck early Thursday, police said.

Daryl Torres, 19, of Village Greenway, was driving a stolen 2002 Mitsubishi Montero at about 4 a.m. when he lost control and overturned the vehicle near the intersection of S.E. Maynard Road and Tanglewood Drive, police said. Torres fled the scene.

His passenger, Ja'Lyn Brean Hunt, 17, of Eyam Hall Lane in Apex, was thrown from the car. He was taken to WakeMed Raleigh where he was listed in critical condition.

Cary police captured Torres Thursday afternoon and charged him with hit and run, possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to appear based on an assault charge against him in Durham.

Torres was being held at the Wake County jail on $251,500 bond.
