Man Charged After Beating Girlfriend 3 Times in Same Day

Posted July 6, 2007

— A Dunn man is in jail, charged with beating his girlfriend three different times on the same day.

Police arrested Gary Wayne McNeill Jr., 19, Tuesday morning for allegedly assaulting the 18-year-old woman. Judge George Murphy, 11th District, released him that afternoon.

Just before 6 p.m., however, police received another call that McNeill had allegedly beaten the woman at her home. But police were unable to find him.

About 9:30 p.m., she was taken to Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital, claiming she had been kicked, stomped and punched by McNeill.

McNeill was in the Harnett County Jail under a $2,000 bond Friday afternoon. He is charged with three counts of domestic assault, one count of interfering with emergency communication, one count of domestic trespassing and one count of injury to personal property.

Only a 2,000 dollar bond? No wonder he beat her 3 times in one day. He knows there are no consequences to his actions. This type of violence deserves at least a $10,000 dollar bond. Whats wrong with these magistrates?

You just said it all!!! I am SO sick of these PUNKS talking about being disrepected. They have NO respect for anyone including themselves or they wouldn't be the punk they are.
They don't "deserve" respect, and just for record PUNKS,
Respect is EARNED, not handed out on a free platter. You get
    what you give!!

All those people grumbling about we don't need a domestic violence database, this is a good example where we do. I just hope he gets a different judge who will charge him for all three domestic charges, instead of plea bargaining it down to one. I seriously think if this man gets out, unless his family can send him up north he's going to go after her again. As one poster said he feels he's been disrepected.

I guess wearing a coat in the mug shot, is our first hint
its not his first time in jail. The sad thing is, most situations like this end up with the woman dead. The system has GOT to start thinking about these women more. 3 times in the same day.....
HELLOOOO Judge, This womans life was in YOUR hands, and YOU let her down. Whats to stop him from killing her??
I hope somebody in her family owns a gun.

Unless the "07" on the card he's holding shows a prior arrest in the month of July, you would be wrong. He's wearing a winter coat in July.

  • Legswilson Jul 7, 2007

Gee folks, this is probably a mugshot from a PRIOR arrest (hence the coat). Anyone stupid enough to be arrested 3 times in the same day obviously has a record a mile long. They don't learn from their mistakes!

I saw two people walking yesterday. One had on a winter coat and the other a hoodie. What's up with that? do they not know it is 95 degrees outside?
That women is lucky she's not dead after the judge released him the first time. What an idiot, both of em.
