Surveillance video captured this image of a man wanted in the robbery of a SunTrust Bank in Durham on June 13.

— A man wanted in a Friday afternoon robbery at SunTrust Bank in Durham was arrested within hours of the incident.

Police said Major Edwards Jr., 50, of Durham, entered the bank on North Gregson Street shortly after noon and handed the teller a note demanding money. The note implied that he had a weapon, but none was seen.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash, but not before security cameras captured clear pictures of him dressed in a white T-shirt, royal blue shorts, black sneakers and white socks.

Police released the photos to the media and asked for the public's help to identify the suspect. About an hour later, they announced Edwards had been arrested.

However, a department spokeswoman said it wasn't a tip about the photos that led to the arrest. "Investigators followed up on some evidence," she said.
