Man arrested in north Raleigh robberies
Police asked for the public's help Monday to identify a man suspected of trying to hold up two businesses over the weekend.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was arrested Thursday in connection with a string of robberies and attempted robberies in north Raleigh, police said.
Jimmy Christopher Carden, 42, of 4004 Wingate Drive, was charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of common law robbery and two counts of attempted common law robbery.
The charges stem from the following incidents:
- An Oct. 28 robbery of a Kerr Drugs store at 4411 Six Forks Road
- A Nov. 4 robbery of a Subway restaurant at 4003 Wake Forest Road
- A Nov. 7 robbery of an Ace Hardware store at 6196 Falls of Neuse Road
- A Nov. 29 robbery of Cameron Clothing Co., at 4351-11 The Circle at North Hills Drive
- The attempted robberies of Raleigh Gold Estate Jewelry, at 6301-A Falls of Neuse Road, and a Rite Aid pharmacy at 6325 Falls of Neuse Road last Saturday.
In each case, police said, a man handed a note to an employee demanding money. He also displayed a weapon in at least two of the holdups. Last Saturday, he left both businesses without taking any money.
