— Durham police arrested a man accused of an armed home invasion.

Two masked men armed with guns broke into a house on South Hoover Road around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and held 11 people, including three children, at gunpoint, police said. Several victims were also assaulted.

The two assailants fled the scene with money and other items.

Police arrested Christopher Keith Cook, 33, of Leesville Road, Sunday on charges of first-degree burglary, assault inflicting serious injury, several counts of second-degree kidnapping and several counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities held him in the Durham County Jail on a $2 million bond.

The second suspect, who has not been identified, was described as a black man with a light complexion in his late teens or early 20s with close-cut hair.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the identity of the second suspect to call Durham police at 910-560-4450, ext. 255, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

For the record, it was Durham Sheriffs Deputies that facilitated a search, found and arrested the subject.

It is unfortunate that someone in the house was unable to exercise their right to self defense and exert mortal force against the perpetrator; thus, sparing the taxpayers considerable expense for a trial and years of confinement. There, is that better?
