Man arrested in connection with shooting at Goldsboro club

Goldsboro police on Thursday arrested a 24-year-old man who they say is responsible for the September shooting death of an 18-year-old inside a night club.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police on Thursday arrested a 24-year-old man who they say is responsible for the September shooting death of an 18-year-old inside a night club.

According to investigators, Quinton Leon Swinson shot and killed Jairus Mikeal Saunders inside Teaser's Night Club, on Mercer Street, about 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 30. 

Swinson was arrested Thursday afternoon at a home in Mount Olive by officers with the Goldsboro Police Department's S.E.U. team and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team. 

He was in the Wayne County jail Thursday night under no bond and will make his first court appearance on first-degree murder charges on Nov. 5. 

Authorities also served Swinson on 11 outstanding warrants Thursday following his arrest, ranging from driving with a revoked license to disorderly conduct. He received a $12,500 secured bond on the 11 outstanding warrants.
