— A Johnston County man was charged with murder Friday in his brother's death, authorities said.

A badly decomposed body was found in a home off N.C. Highway 96 in Selma on Saturday. An autopsy determined the man died from a gunshot wound.

The man was identified Friday as 41-year-old Gregory Johnson, authorities said. His brother, 43-year-old Elijah Leslie Johnson, was charged, authorities said.

No information about a motive in the death was released.

Elijah Johnson is being held without bond in the Johnston County Jail. He was already in jail after an arrest earlier this month on several charges, including drunken driving and cocaine possession.

    ThatwhatIthought,

After 45 years of integration what do you expect? You need to embrace the diversity of crime but remember its roots.

According to the Smithfield Herald, the victim was mentally handicapped.

"Racism test: If you find yourself wondering what the race of the brothers are, then you need to ask yourself some serious questions about how race enters your mindset of life." djofRaleigh

The matter of race in crime enters my mindset through FACTS: (from www.ojp.gov/bjs/prisons.htm) Which states as follows:

At yearend 2005 there were 3,145 black male sentenced prison inmates per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,244 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 471 white male inmates per 100,000 white males.

The statistics for females are not far behind these numbers and are getting progressively worse.

Without pointing fingers, this is an American sociological problem without a simple cure. Somehow whole communities including churches and government officials need to realize they are running out of time. Time to act is now. Help, the single black mother working two jobs. Fill the void in leadership left vacant by the incarcerated fathers.

By the way, in case all you racists are wondering, they are white. I know the aunt of the victim.

Drugs and thugs, just another stupid story if you ask me, who cares...

"He was still in jail for the same thing Lindsay Lohan is in trouble for."

There is bail for this charge. Guess he didn't have the money or friends to go his bail.

We don't know that he was on drugs when he shot his brother or that he didn't do it in self-defense, do we? We like to guess.

Such story coverage is like a fill-in-the-blank test, and we, after watching TV think we are detectives and entertain ourselves and each other with spectulation.

Racism test: If you find yourself wondering what the race of the brothers are, then you need to ask yourself some serious questions about how race enters your mindset of life.

To you men: Does it make you wonder why it is always males doing all this crime? Young males are the most dangerous animal you will ever encounter outside of a cage. In fact, society has to cage right many young men.

terrible.. I cant even imagine hurting my brother but I guess I have not smoked enough crack, or had an abusive enough childhood to really understand the finer things in life? It does sound like noone cared about the deceased much if he laid there for over a month. Looks like someone would be looking?? Ohh. thats right! nevermind!
