— A Raleigh man was arrested as he attempted to pawn stolen watches Friday at a Capital Boulevard pawn shop.

According to arrest warrants, Charles Lawrence Cambra, 38, of 4116 Viewmont Drive, tried to sell the watches, valued at more than $7,000, to National Pawn. He faces charges of possession of stolen property and obtaining property under false pretenses.

The warrants list three watches, including a $5,000 Rolex, that Cambra had in his possession which had been stolen from a Knightdale man.

He was being held Monday at the Wake County jail on $60,000 bond.

All these pawn places should change their signs to read "We buy and sale your hard-stolen goods and gold!" anyway. The only reason this guy got caught was because he was trying to pawn a hot-ticket item like a Rolex. People pawn other lower-shelf items day in and day out and don't get caught. A group of 3 guys went all around western NC two/three years ago and stole over $20k worth of rings, gold, coins, jewelry, etc from probably 10 different counties and the police returned none of it to the owners...can't seem to find it. Now just where do you think it all went? Flea markets and pawn shops. Not to mention they only got caught because they kept the heists up. People get away with this every day.

Many Rolex are tracked from the point of first purchase,(like a new car) forward and have more than one serial number located on them.
