— A 55-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with a rape that happened Friday at a temporary housing facility for UNC Hospitals.

Campus police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill said Rafael Sierra Gaono assaulted a woman at the SECU Family House on Old Mason Farm Road.

The house provides accommodations for families of patients who are being treated for critical illness or injury at UNC Hospitals or clinics.

Gaono, charged with second-degree rape in the incident, was in the Orange County jail Tuesday under a $40,000 bond. Gaono was scheduled to make a first court appearance Tuesday at 2 p.m.

No other information about the assault was released.

It's called sarcasm, people. Look up the stats on sex crimes committed by illegal aliens. Many of the victims are underage.

Wow. I wonder where he is from? I guess our NC Legislature should feel great about their recent vote overriding the governor's veto.

Can't believe his bail is only $40,000. I hope he goes away for a very long time. Life won't be enough!

Why would you say that? If he was staying at that facility, he has a very sick family member.

trader said it because this article currently does not say he was staying there, just that the alleged crime took place there

678devilish: I was being sarcastic. It seems every bad thing in the news gets blamed on the President.

Will UNC make it more safer for families staying at the facility?

If they are staying at that facility, they are dealing with a serious family member's illness. Outrageous and my heart goes out to the victim and their family. At least they got the guy and he will likely be incarcerated. I think it is a low bond as well considering the nature of the crime.
