— Police on Monday arrested a man suspected of robbing a Garner bank.

The SunTrust Bank at 118 Small Pine Drive was robbed at about 9:10 a.m., police said. Information from witnesses and a scent picked up by a K-9 unit led officers to a Days Inn motel at 3901 S. Wilmington St.

Jason Benton Matthews, 38, was taken into custody, and charges are pending against him, police said.

Officers seized an undisclosed amount of money and other evidence, police said.

Actually, this is the Days Inn beside Waffle House, across from Lowes, at the edge of Garner. Strange its address is S. Wilmington Street. The robber didn't have too far to run.
