— A Vass man has been accused of breaking into a gun store, hardware store and home earlier this week, according to the Moore County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said that Jonathon Midgett, 26, of 541 Pats Road, broke into a Vass home on Sunday and Jim's Loans, Guns & Gold in Southern Pines and Edwards Hardware in Vass on Tuesday.

A search of Midgett's home found two guns, stolen property from Edwards Hardware and drug paraphernalia, officials said.

Midgett faces two counts each of breaking-and-entering, felony larceny, possession of stolen property and obtaining property by false pretenses and one count each of possession of firearms by a felon, a drug offense and misdemeanor larceny.

He was given a $150,000 secured bond and a first court date of Nov. 24.

Midgett was convicted of drug trafficking in Guilford County in 2005 and served three months, according to the state Department of Correction records.

Midgett has been placed on probation five times since 2005 for charges ranging from misdemeanor breaking-and-entering to bear-baiting, cockfighting and selling seafood without a license.

My thoughts exactly, I never heard or read about anyone who was found guilty of drug trafficking only serving 3 months! Did he serve it all or was he out in a month and a half? I thought it was 2-10 years automatically. I wonder what forces he has on his side to allow this? Such a disgrace.

90 days for drug dealing! Crime does pay! We'll hear from him again ... and again ... until we finally have to jail him for life or put a needle in his arm. The real question is who will he make suffer until then?
